2/16/15 - Stroup is a projectable 6-foot-2, 175-pound shortstop that attends Lee’s Summit West HS in Lee’s Summit Missouri. Class of 2016. Bats right, tall set-up, minimal hand load, level path out front, bat speed, line drive approach, maintains balance. Line drives to the pull side during batting practice. Exit velocity of 87 mph, ran a 4.50 home-to-first. Athletic actions at shortstop. Quick, clean exchanges, quick high three quarters arm action, 80 mph throwing velocity, accurate arm.
6/17/14 - Stroup is an athletic 6-foot-2 175-pound RHP with command of three pitches. His fastball was thrown with a high 3/4 release at 79-81 MPH to both sides of the plate. Stroup’s curveball has a 12-to-6 shape thrown with fastball arm speed at 66-68 MPH. During the scrimmage, he was effective with the change up at 69-70 MPH that had good sink. He has a smooth, simple delivery that easily repeated. Stroup throws with regular effort and has a quick arm that will add velocity as he develops
6/17/14 – Stroup is strong a 6-foot-2 160-pound shortstop. He has quick hand-to-glove exchange and high ¾ release, resulting in a positional velo of 78 MPH. Stroup made accurate throws to first and showed the ability to play through the ball. At the plate, Stroup showed power to the pull gap. He starts with an open stance and produces a fast bat. He had one of the best exit velos of the event at 87 MPH, runs a 4.6 home-to-first and a 7.16 60.
