Positional Profile: RHP

Body: 6-foot, 185-pound well-built and athletic frame.

Delivery: Works exclusively out of the stretch.  Smooth tempo with high balance point and good load into the back leg.  Hands work together up and down with the lower half.  Keeps shoulders even and lands directionally down the mound towards the plate with good balance.  Goes for max effort on fastballs and is more controlled on off speed.

Arm Action: High ¾ arm slot with clean arm action and good hand speed.

FB: 86-88 mph, high spin rate with some arm side run.

SL: 71-73 mph, 9/3 shape with tight spin.

CH: 80-81 mph, low spin with arm side fade and good command.

10/20/18 – Russell is a 5-foot-10, 155-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder and RHP is Missouri’s 2022 recruiting class. He ran a 7.50 second 60, 4.65 home-to-first and posted an exit velocity of 74 mph. At the plate, starts slightly open, reverse toe tap into load, slightly closed stride, showed contact to pull side during batting practice, leverages up front side, high finish with hands. Defensively, Russell is aggressive to the baseball, moves well side-to-side, three-quarter release, positional velocity of 67 mph, mostly accurate throws. On the mound, Russell has a smooth compact delivery, creates downhill tilt, clean loose arm action, hides the ball the well, three-quarter release, accelerates down the mound. Fastball is 71-76 mph, arm sides run, thrown for strikes, commands arm side part of the plate, curveball is 61-63 mph, gradual action.
