6/13/17 - Payne is a long levered 6-foot-3 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.27 laser timed 60 and a 4.83 home to first.  He has an 81 mph exit velo. At the plate, starts loaded in back leg, short stride, quick and level swing path, loose hands, flashed power to pull side.  In the outfield, 87 mph positional velo, throws downhill, quick arm, over the the top release, quick catch and throw, small crow hop for momentum, accurate thrower. On the mound, Payne is a strike thrower with a two-pitch mix, tall and strong frame, over the top release, repeats delivery with smooth rhythm, loose arm action, hides ball well, fastball at 77-81 mph, commands breaking ball, 12-to-6 shape, late and sharp, worked to contact, challenges hitters, works both sides of the plate.
2/20/17 - Payne is a 6-foot-3 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 4.43 home to first and has an exit velocity of 81 mph. At the plate, feet start in square position, minimal load, no wasted movement, short stride, balanced, level path through contact, consistent line drives to the left side of the field during batting practice.  In the outfield, aggressive through the catch, quick arm speed, over the top release, crow hop, long levered, quick transfer on time with quick feet, 90 mph positional velo.
2/19/17 - Payne is a 6-foot-3 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Payne show command of his fastball at 80-82 mph, some with late run, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape, mostly 64-65 mph, showed a cutter with slight downward action, 76 mph, controllable change up at 74-78 mph, sinking action, near fastball arm speed, long levered, high three quarters arm slot, arm works easy and loose, throws with regular effort, projectable with frame and arm action.
