2015 1st Team All-GAC South Conference - Infield

8/17/14 – Deckard is a strong 6-foot-1, 190-pound right-hand hitting third-baseman. He posted a home-to-first time of 5.04. He throws from a high ¾ arm slot. His throws were very accurate with good carry. Steven has aggressive actions and shows a quick release. His position velo was 82 MPH. At the plate, Deckard has a slightly open setup with a back load and a long stride. He has good balance through his swing and uses his lower half well. His swing produces gap-to-gap line drives and shows some pull power. Steven had an exit velo of 87 MPH.

2/23/14 – Deckard is 6-foot-1, 190-pound RHP. Deckard showed good command with his fastball and change-up.  His fastball had slight run at 80-83 MPH and his change-up has some sink at 70-72 MPH at near fastball arm speed.  He showed a curveball at 64-66 MPH.  Deckard throws from over-the-top with easy effort and a quick arm.

2/23/14 – Deckard is solid 6-foot-1, 190-pound 3B.  Deckard has a simple load and has a line drive He starts in an athletic position and has good balance throughout the swing.  He produces an exit velo of 89 MPH.  Defensively, Deckard has good footwork and plays through the ball.  He has a high ¾ release and had a top throw of 83 MPH across the infield, one of the best of the event. His throws were mostly accurate. He runs a 4.81 home-to-first

2/18/13: Deckard has a strong bodied, 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame and showed very well in the field and at the plate. In the field, Deckard shows quick footwork to the baseball with soft hands and a quick, clean exchange. He plays through the ball while showing good arm speed and a top throw of 78-mph. At the plate, Deckard has strong, quick hands and uses a strong lower half to generate bat speed. He takes a short path to the ball with a level swing plane, extension through contact, and an uphill finish. He also showed some power in his swing, as evidenced by his 84-mph exit velocity off the bat.

7/18/13: Deckard is a strong bodied 6-foot-1, 170-pound player who showed well in all facets of his game. In the field, Deckard showed a good approach to the ball with fundamental footwork, good lateral movements, and soft hands. At the plate, Deckard showed the ability to hit for power, especially pitches on the inner half of the plate. His swing takes a short, uphill path, with barrel whip through the zone. Additionally, Deckard had one of the top exit velos at 87-mph off the bat, second highest for the underclassmen.
