USA CNT TRIALS: After earning eight saves and recording 51 strikeouts against 21 walks in 37.2 innings to earn Freshman All-America honors for Arkansas this spring, Tygart made just a single one-inning relief appearance for Team USA, striking out two and stranding two baserunners after issuing a walk and an HBP. The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder has a live arm and an uptempo delivery, with a loose arm circle to a three-quarters delivery. He showed a 93-94 mph fastball with premium spin up to 2500 rpm in his CNT appearance, complementing it with a pair of knockout breaking balls. His feel to spin is his greatest asset, and he has exceeded 3000 rpms in the past. In Cary, we saw a tight downer curve at 75-76 and a slider with more horizontal tilt at 80-81, both spinning in the 2700s. Both are true out pitches, and he used each to record strikeouts in his inning of work.
5/01/22
Spin King Brady Tygart earned the W with two innings of shutout relief during Saturday's walk off, then earned a well-deserved save in Sunday's finale with three more innings of scoreless relief. His control will come and go (6 BB, 7 SO in 6 IP during the series), but his calling card is a nasty, high-spin breaker (up to 3125 rpm) at 77-81 mph. Ending with late action and elite movement both vertically and horizontally, it's a top of the scale pitch and one of the best in college baseball when he lands it. The right hander's fastball was also a high spinner (2500+ rpm) and averaged 93 mph (T95) with average movement.
