USA CNT: Elliott earned Freshman All-America honors after coming on like gangbusters down the stretch and helping lead Ole Miss to the national title. He finished 5-3, 2.70 with 102 strikeouts and 34 walks in 80 innings, including two strong starts in the College World Series, during which he allowed three earned runs in 13 innings. We missed his lone start in North Carolina, but we got a bunch of good looks at him in the postseason and regular season this spring. At his best, Elliott carves up the zone at 88-93 mph, adding and subtracting as needed. His fastball can spin into the 2400s and has good tail on it. His best pitch is a sinking, fading changeup at 78-80 mph, a true swing-and-miss weapon. And he has good feel for a three-quarters curveball at 75-78, throwing it with more horizontal break against lefties and more downer break against righties. He’s a classic pitchability lefty who also has good stuff, giving him a chance to follow in the footsteps of former Rebel Doug Nikhazy as a top-two-rounds pick.
