3/9/19: Six-foot-4, 210 pound Italian native entered Saturday's game in the bottom of the eighth and did what his stuff is tailored to do. With a hard 89-91 mph sinker and 77-79 slider, Bocchi induced three consecutive groundouts for a perfect inning. (Seifert)
10/14/18: Matteo Bocchi, a senior for the Longhorns, fired his sinker with a low three-quarters slot at 88-90 MPH with average arm-side life. Recently, Bocchi added a curveball (around 74 MPH) that he showed control of; it looked like a pitch to keep hitters off the fastball early in counts, and to aid his sharper slider, which is capable of missing bats at 80-82 MPH with command to his glove-side.
