Western NY Prospect Preview (July 5, 2016)
Alexander stands an athletic 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, a 2019 RHP. Pitching- Alexander steps on the mound, starting on the left side of the rubber. With a big side step and bring his hands over his head, he gets into a nice balanced position, with a high leg kick at 90 degrees. Alexander uses a small stride but does a great job getting his chest out over his knee. Arm swing is short with an over the top delivery. A long arm path may lead to an even more explosive FB as he showed good hand speed into his release. FB ranged between 78-83 MPH with some heaviness; creates a downward plane. Plenty of sinking action on all of his offerings. Able to keep hitters off-balanced with a changeup sitting 72-75 MPH. High ceiling; plenty of room for increased velocity as his above average frame fills out. Power arm potential.
