Showed a plus feel for pitching, threw all three for strikes and repeated his delivery. Has a slight forward lean in his delivery but the ball comes out very well. Mid 80’s fastball with downward plane, and sink to it. The breaking ball is slurvy, and he tends to slow down his hand. Threw it for strikes all day long. The changeup has good action and is coming on. Got better as he went, and fielded his position well. Time to the plate in the stretch needs to be quickened, but nothing than can be fixed with a ¼ kick.
At 6-foot-3, 170-pounds Anderson shows that he can catch at the next level today with his impressive pop time of 2.0-2.14. He showed great footwork behind the plate and soft hands when sticking pitches. His blocking was outstanding as he can block and recover without hesitation. Very flexible behind the plate, sways with the pitch real well to work his framing. One thing he needs to do is fill out more. Graduating in 2016 gives him time to hit the weights and work hard in developing strength. His presence at the plate also needs some minor adjustments. He has fast hands and gets his bat head to the ball but he needs to keep his front shoulder in more. Rotates the back side really well and uses his lower half nice, but needs to be able to drive the ball opposite field just like he does when he pulls it. Overall he should be a well rounded catcher behind the plate and at the plate with some hard work and off season training.
