Stands 5-foot-10, 180-pounds, well build for the position, runs well evidenced by his 7.08 60-yard dash time. Confident approach behind the plate defensively, quick and short arm action, average footwork and actions, 68 mph arm strenght. In the box uses an even stance, high hands, consistent barrel contact, 82 mph exit velo.
Preseason All-State (February 20, 2017)

May, a 2019 right-handed hitting catcher,  stands at 5-foot-10 and  weighs 175 pounds, ran a 7.25 60. Offensively- Starts from a square balanced lower half, some slight bend in both knees, with the hands above and slightly in front of the back shoulder while the barrel of the bat is slightly greater than 45-degrees. Gets to the launch phase of the swing lifting the lead foot, some inward knee rotation, subtly striding towards the pitcher while the hands are loaded straight back staying slightly inside the back shoulder and barrel of bat, with a slight wrap to the pitcher, getting almost perpendicular to the ground. Drove the ball, mainly the pitch down to the lower of the zone, well from the pull side gap to the center of the field. Would be able to create more bat speed and drive the ball more consistently with a more aggressive drive from the back hip. Recorded an exit velocity of 75 MPH, which should improve as strength and size are added. Defensively-  Worked from a square primary stance with quiet body movements, however the glove hand worked around the ball, which was caused due to the glove hand and forearm not relaxing as the pitch approached the zone. On throws to second base, used a jump pivot footwork technique which caused the transfer to be slightly out of sequence with the lower half. Throws to second were accurate but could show much more carry as well as increase the arm velocity of 67 MPH shown, if the transfer could happen quicker with the footwork going along behind the transfer which would help get more extension and torque on the throws. Best pop time of 2.22 recorded on the day.
