NY Games (June 25-27, 2017)
Athletic 6-foot, 210-pound outfielder, ran a 7.16/60. Offensively - quick hands, short to the ball, keeps bat on level path with full extension and slight upper cut after contact for an exit velocity of 89 MPH, smooth and repeatable motion, comfortable driving ball to the middle third of field. Defensively - fundamentally sound, agile footwork, uses extra steps to gain momentum after receiving ball, accurate arm at 84 MPH.
Team Citius Workout

McCarthy stands in a 6-foot-0, 210-pounds with a thick athletic frame. Ran a 7.18 – 60. Offensively- Lefty sets up in an open stance with his feet outside shoulder width. Shows a slight knee bend with his torso leaning in towards the plate holding his hands above the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch his trigger is a knee raise to stride forward squaring up with the pitcher while his hands move back into a good hitting position. Has a very powerful lower body rotation utilizing his entire body frame in the swing generating power when his hips clear. Shows quick hands into the hitting zone with good upward lift barrel action throughout into a high one handed finish. Demonstrated line drive and gap to gap power with swing during batting practice round. Has a fluid and aggressive swing with potential to be a middle of the order hitter. Recorded an exit velocity of 90 MPH. Defensively- Shows athletic footwork getting to the baseball. Works into a side shuffle vs. a traditional crowhop while getting the the ball into his throwing position. Uses an appropriate outfielder arm swing and makes the necessary movement towards the intended throwing target. Could field the ball more out in front of the body on the crow hop to all more move movement towards target. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 81 MPH with carry.
