Klein, a left-handed hitting third baseman currently ranked 3rd at his position but could shoot to the top of the list for the class of 2019, stands at 5-foot-10 and weighs a solid 210 pounds, ran a 7.50 60 matching a personal best. Offensively- An explosive bat, starting with a an open stance with a majority of the weight shifted to the back leg while the hands begin above the back shoulder and bat 45 degrees to the ground. Shows an advanced approach at the plate driving the ball from foul line to foul line. Creates plus backspin on the ball through extension, finish varies between a two handed over the lead shoulder or one handed finish. Compact and explosive swing creating plus momentum through the baseball getting every ounce of energy thru the ball. Exit velocity increased to 91 MPH ( +4 MPH) from just a month earlier. High follow that will make an impact over the next few years at the hot corner. Defensively- Showed athletic and fluid movements for his strong frame. Throws showed plus carry and accuracy. Recorded an arm velocity of 83 MPH an increase (+6 MPH) from the previous event attended. Transfer could be a bit quicker, as the tendency to double tap is evident. Clean footwork and soft hands on balls hit to either side. Exciting player to watch and follow.
Klein, solidly built left-handed swinging 2019 third baseman stands at 5-foot-10 and weighs a solid 210 pounds, ran a 7.69 60. Offensively- Starts with an upright slightly open stance feet shoulder width apart and weight evenly distributed. Hands start above the back shoulder with a bat wiggle used as a pre-pitch movement. Uses a shift of weight to the backside to get into the launch position while bringing the front foot back as well. Aggressively attacks the ball from the loaded position and through contact. Showed ability to drive the ball during BP especially to the pull side losing some balls over the right-field fence. Recorded an exit velocity of 87 MPH impressive for this 2019 grad. Comes from the successful program of Poly Prep HS and will be a high follow in the upcoming years. Defensively- Showed plus agility and arm strength during infield. Arm does get a bit long, but with some minor adjustment should be able to be cleaner with the transfer which will help the arm shorten up. Footwork was clean as well, using the standard technique of right foot to left foot and driving the lead side towards the target for an infielder. Throws showed plus carry and accuracy. Recorded an arm velocity of 74 MPH on the day, which will surely improve over the next few years.
