6/28/21

Physical: Lean, projectable 6-foot, 148lb frame with available athleticism in the movements. 7.23 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Upright, open stance with a slightly bent start, as the hands showed up/down at the shoulder. Utilized a direct lift and replace stride out towards the pitcher, initiating the bat head through a flat path into the hitting zone. Handled the pitch above the belt with great success, using connected rotational turns to generate good extension at the front of the plate. Notched an 80% fly ball rate (via Trackman) en route to a 306 foot batted ball distance on his best swings to LCF (doubles power). Worked up to a T85 mph bat-exit velocity and featured comfortable bat to ball skills during batting practice.

Defensively: The primary shortstop was a shifty defender, operating with good pace and quick lateral actions from right to left through the baseball. Approached on time and held tempo on each rep, attacking the ball and releasing immediately from H ¾ slot (fluid, 82 mph arm). Easy left side of the field projection down the road and handled the play on the run too.

Pitching: RHP - Started off the middle/left side of the rubber from the side, using a short/quick side rocker into a higher stack with some hip-coil. Drove down the mound efficiently into footstrike releasing at medium H ¾ slot (FB ranged 78-80 mph with good carry, T2261rpms via Trackman). Added a commanded 67-69 mph CB at a 10-4 tilt, grabbing the strike zone at a 54% clip and later mixed a low-spin CH at 65-68 mph with varied results.

3/28/21

Physical: Lean, athletic build at 6-foot, 148 lbs.

Pitching: Short side step with a toe tap before leg lift and coil, sits into back side as strides out to a slightly closed landing, finishes against a firm front side with a repeatable release; hand drops down behind the back hip getting some deception before working up through a low 3/4 release. FB: Has some jump through the zone with high spin (2284) and up to 18" of induced vertical break coming from a 4.42' release height. CB: Slurvy 10-4 break flashing depth through the zone. SPL: Kills the spin on it with up to -4" vertical drop and up to 14" arm side fade.

9/19/20

Physical: Lean, athletic 5-foot-11, 135-pound frame with room to continue adding strength as he matures. 7.50 runner in the 60-yard dash. Offensively: RHH. Tall / upright stance with the feet narrow in the setup as the hands started loose and easy at the shoulder while the barrel pointed straight upwards. Utilized a controlled, lift and replace stride with ability to connect to the ground early and often in the swing, the hands worked through a flat barrel path allowing for feel for the barrel during batting practice. Peppered the middle of the field with line drive contact while hitting into a stiff front side at impact, mature approach at the dish and doesn’t try to do too much, stayed inside the baseball well, registered a 46% line drive rate per Trackman Baseball / notched a peak of 78 mph bat-exit velocity, 56% max on plane efficiency according to Blast Motion. Defensively: The primary shortstop featured smooth actions with quality downhill angles towards the baseball, used the “banana route” concept plenty on rangy plays, got out and around the baseball and redirected towards the target while following a semi-circle path through the baseball, soft glove hand out in front on the approach, fields off of the middle-left side of his body, above average pace, has a chance to be a solid defender overall. INF - 73 mph Pitching: RHP - Side rocker step with average pace in the delivery, medium-high leg lift with sink into the backside out of the stack, drives with intent towards the plate while landing slightly closed creating crossfire. Delivered out of a high ¾ slot with some quickness to the arm through a medium takeaway. FB ranged from 72-73 mph with command in the zone, mixed in a quality 74-76 mph SL showing off good shape and short, late horizontal break. Countered with a 62-63 mph SPLIT with low spin and occasional tumbling action and short depth.
