Sturdy 6-foot-2, 225-pound RHP, ran a 7.59/60. Pitching - uses height to get downward plane on 79-80 MPH fastball that touches 82 MPH, 12-to-6 curveball at 67-69 MPH freezes batters, consistently induces weak contact, developing hip tilt at balance point to engage lower torso. Offensively - effective load, appropriate pre-pitch movement, keeps hands inside ball with full extension after contact for an exit velocity of 90 MPH, inner knee rotation triggers hips, further lower body engagement will add to power. Defensively - basic footwork, sure hands, effective transfer with accurate arm at 78 MPH.
Bender stands at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds with a strong frame. Registered a time of 4.5 seconds from home to first base. Offensively- Begins with feet slightly wider than shoulders and legs straight. Hands are aligned above back shoulder. Has a high leg kick that lands slightly closed off as hands load. Hips are rotational in swing and hands are direct to ball. Bat path is slightly uphill, allowing for drive. Strong extension through contact; power potential. Had an exit velocity of 91 MPH off the tee. Defensively- Moves to ball with long strides. Sets up with a wide base. Most bend occurs at waist and fields ball under body. Uses a double shuffle to gain ground towards target. Had a positional throwing velocity of 80 MPH across the diamond. Primary 3B but 1B could be an option down the road. Pitching- Begins with feet at shoulder width on 1B side of rubber and hands in front of chest. Small side step to the left as right foot uses toe tap to get onto rubber. Knee lift comes just above waist height at balance point. Average stride length that lands slightly open. Ground stabbing arm motion on the back side with a straight over the top arm slot. Full extension through pitches. Fastball ranged from 81-82 MPH. Also threw a curveball at 62-63 MPH and changeup at 68-69 MPH.
