Game Performance

Notes

Comments

10/28/18

Strong, durable frame with developed build at 6-foot-2, 213-pounds. Offensively – Narrow, upright stance with front foot slightly open to the pitcher. Starts with some weight pre-shifted onto backside. Hovers on back foot as he gets into controlled leg lift and forward stride. Smooth, level swing with easy bat speed. Hands stay tight to the body and work inside of the ball. High finish after contact that projects well for future power. Stays tall and hits against firm front side to create impressive leverage. Keeps balance throughout. Defensively – Big body behind the dish. Presents a compact target when in his crouch. Hops out of stance quickly while getting into throwing motion. Realigns feet to 2b as he exchanges ball at about waist height. Short, compact arm action with loose finish. High ¾ release. Gets backside thru on all throws.

10/20/18

Impressive performance for Sosa only 6 days after his last event. Shaved his 60 time down to 7.58. Offensively- More consistent in the box showing off some juice with the wood bat. Defensively- Shaved his pop time down to 1.93-2.00 Also showed soft hands while receiving as he was able to handle a number of JUCO pitchers at the event. Stock on the rise.

10/14/18

Physical 6-foot-2 213 pound RHH catcher who ran a 7.84 60. Offensively- Maintains a presence in the box; slightly open stance; gains ground on the stride but stays behind the ball. Minimal movement with hands pre-pitch but explodes through the zone showing some present pop to his pull side. Defensively-Above average arm strength; will need to control his body position as he comes out of the chute (can get to tall at times).  Pop times ranged 1.96-2.06 on the day with the potential to be even better.
