NY Games (June 25-27, 2017)
Slight build at 6-foot and 160 pounds, ran a 7.3/60. Offensively - keeps bat on a level plane through the zone, comfortable going to the middle third of the field with occasional opposite-field action, repeatable motion, appropriate pre-pitch movement, engagement of lower body will add to an exit velocity of 81 MPH. . Defensively - balanced, agile movements with smooth transfer to throwing hand, accurate arm at 71 MPH. Pitching - hides ball well as creates a whip action, fastball at 76-77 MPH touched 78 MPH shows late run, throws 12-to-6 curveball between 64-66 MPH.

Individual Player Evaluation (June 30, 2016)
Murphy checks in as a 6-foot-0 165 pound LHP/1B. He ran a 7.76 60 and a 4.94 home-to-1B. Offensively- Murphy sets in a fairly even stance with his weight pre-loaded over his back leg; flat barrel into his load with a slight wrap behind the head. Short stride; stays behind the ball well. Occasionally inside-outs the ball; stays left center to right center with contact; mostly line drives/flyballs. Exit velocity of 81 MPH.   Defensively- Murphy demonstrates good actions around the bag; hands get out in front with proper footwork setup allowing for his throwing footwork to be clean to both the plate and starting the double play. Positional arm strength at 65 MPH but with a short, snap like release. Overall agility and lateral actions could be improved. Pitching- Works from the glove side of the rubber with a quiet drop step/pivot to a belt high balance point. Stays over back leg with a long arm action that can curl behind his back; high ¾ arm slot, short stride with up and over finish; working downhill. Overall FB velo was down today but he’s been mid to upper 70’s; able to spot to both sides of the plate. CB features above average 12-to-6 action; change up with late arm side fade.
Summer 2015
Murphy is LHP that pitches beyond his age. Fastball sits in the mid to upper 70's range with above average movement. Keeps the ball down. Curveball is a legit secondary pitch with 10-4 action and late bite. Can throw it in any count. Once he develops a feel for his change up he'll be a tough arm to face. Defensively-  Clean with his footwork around the bag and and has a soft glove. Offensively-When he stays back and gets good rotation he has the ability to be a hitter who uses the whole field and have some pop to his pull side.  Has a small drift in his swing and can get long at times.
