Winter Open (February 11, 2018)

DeVries is a 6-foot 185-pound right-handed pitcher and third baseman. Ran a 7.80 60 and a 4.67 home-to-1B. Offensively- Starts with front foot slightly open, hands near the ear and slightly out from body. Leg kick for timing with slight take back of the hands. Inside out approach at times, at his best when aggressively getting the barrel out in front. Exit velocity of 80 MPH. Defensively- Anticipates the ball with active feet; creates angles to get around the ball to his glove side. Accurate throws across the diamond at 73 MPH across the diamond. Pitching- Starts with feet slightly pointed towards third base dugout. Hands start at belt and raise towards head. Knee comes up to chest. Throws from a high ¾ slot.. Fastball sits 75-77 MPH on a downward plane. CB has 12-to-6 action at 62-64 MPH.

NY Games (June 25-27, 2017)

Solid 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame, ran an 8.17/60. Offensively- Uses inner knee rotation, keeps bat on level path through zone with full extension after contact for an exit velocity of 72 MPH, shows inner rotation, will benefit from counter rotation of upper and lower torso. Defensively - sound footwork, economic motions, sure hands and glove, smooth transfer, accurate arm at 75 MPH. Pitching - uses to get downward plane on fastball at 73-74 MPH, effectively changes eye level, spots both sides of plate, 2-to-7 curveball at 62-64 MPH keeps hitters off balance, consistently induces weak contact.

May 2017

5-foot-11 160 pounds with an athletic frame; hits from the right side. Not overpowering on the mound but throws a ton of strikes, changes speeds and showed both CB and CH. Stays closed on delivery, works downhill with an easy effort. At the plate he helped his own cause going 2-for-2 with with 3 RBI (both hits were with 2 outs).
