Physical: Lean, athletic 5-foot-10, 165lb frame with some feel present. 6.88 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Started with a Nolan Arenado type stance, slightly closed and rhythmically rocking with a back and forth move. Utilized a sudden move backward on the load, launching from the shoulder on-time with a short lift and replace stride; initiated through a slightly uphill path giving way to a lofty approach during batting practice (46% fly ball rate via Trackman). Demonstrated quality bat to ball skills in the box with doubles power available to the pull-side. Sprayed hard contact to all fields mostly, staying inside the ball while controlling the inner half of the plate. Worked up to a T89 mph bat-exit velocity with room for more.
Defensively: The primary backstop featured a narrow, traditional stance in the crouch, receiving quietly from flexed to extended. Pop times ranged from 2.02-2.09 with a quick hand-break and finished over the front side at a H ¾ slot (T73 mph arm strength).
Physical: The 5-foot-8, 160-pound catcher featured easy athleticism and twitch in the actions. Recorded a 6.65 60-yard dash to start the day.
Offensively: RHH - Balanced, upright stance with a minor bend in the knees; the hands started high at ear height showing slight rhythm. Utilized a short lift and replace stride with a Nolan Arenado-esque “rocking motion” back and forth at the plate. Recorded a peak bat-exit velocity of 89 mph while delivering the bat head through a loose, slightly uphill attack. A 42% fly ball rate paired up with a 302 foot max batted ball distance pointing towards doubles power at the moment. Stayed behind the baseball well with leverage on pitches out over the plate; hit into a stiff front side with adjustability present. A 26.7 mph hand speed showcases obvious twitch at the plate and a 76% on-plane efficiency suggests that above-average bat to ball skills are there.
Defensively: The primary backstop flashed adequate receiving ability turning the thumb up on pitches at the top of the zone with solid pocket awareness, pop times ranged from 2.14-2.19 from a low, traditional setup; used the momentum of the pitch to flow into the transfer phase allowing for in and out quickness on throws (73 mph). Hard worker behind the plate; moved well laterally on blocks getting the hips and glove hand around pitches on either side of the black.
