Ungar, a 2018 right-handed hitting catcher, stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs 195 pounds, ran a 4.47 from home to first. Offensively- Begins with a strong wide base with both knees bent, weight evenly distributed while the hands are above the back shoulder and the barrel of the bat wrapped slightly behind the head. Initiates the swing with a load of the hands directly off the back shoulder while the front foot is moderately lifted straight up with no movement towards the back knee. Strides with the lead foot towards the pitcher, gaining good momentum and energy to the ball. Does a plus job of keeping the hands behind the rotation of the hips enabling a quick compact path to the ball. Showed an ability to drive the ball well from the pull side gap to the opposite field gap. Could get more firepower from the hips which would increase bat speed and help improve the exit velocity of 81 MPH recorded on the day. Defensively- Works from a relaxed square primary setup, with the left elbow above the shin guard and glove in front of the body in the lower third of the zone. Received the ball well with soft hands presenting the ball well with little to no glove movement. Displayed a quick release with a quality transfer, showing short traditional arm action. Throws showed plus carry as well as accuracy with a pop time best of 1.93 (ranging from 1.93-2.01 as well as a top arm velocity of 71 MPH.
