New York Games (June 27-29, 2016)
Galer is an athletic 6-foot-1 165 pound LHP/OF. He ran a 7.01 60. Offensively-  The LHH  starts in a spread; crouched stance with his hands head height. Controlled load with up-down stride. Stays behind the ball; short stroke into the zone with some pull off into his extension (2 hands). Line drive results with gap potential. Exit velocity was a solid 88 MPH.  Defensively- In the outfield Galer stays behind the ball well; keeping body in motion. Catches flyballs out in front of center chest; occasionally has a slight hitch in his crowhop disrupting his release. Ball comes out with good carry; accuracy. Peak OF velocity was 85 MPH.  Pitching- Galer had a very impressive outing for 3 innings vs. the Niagara squad. FB sat 79-82 MPH with a devastating 11-to-5 hammer curveball. Late action caused hitters to give up and even his catcher had trouble corralling a few. Slight hesitation in his delivery leads into a small “jump” off the rubber; FB had live feel to it and lead to many late swings; played more like a mid to upper 80’s offering. Quick arm with late life; development of his change will make him a front line guy although he could step in right now as a two pitch arm out of a higher level pen.
