7.99
Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Durable 6-foot-0 200 pound frame with a strong lower half. Offensively- Preloads weight over back leg with an open setup; some action with the barrel from flat to elevated during his load. Stays behind the ball with an explosive lower half effort; showed zone acceleration and the ability to drive the ball to both gaps. Middle of the order run producer mentality. Did not work out defensively.
Long Island Top Prospect (January 16, 2017)
Minneci, an impressive 2019 right-handed hitting first baseman currently ranked as the 4th best first baseman for the class of 2019, stands at 5-foot-11 and weighs 205 pounds, ran a 4.58 from home to first. Offensively-Begins with a lower half that is slightly open with a shift of weight to the back leg with the hands held above the back shoulder and barrel of the bat nearly parallel to the ground. Initiates the swing with a pronounced lead leg kick, getting the lead knee thigh high, while the hands are loaded straight back staying even with the back shoulder and the barrel of the bat gets up with a slight wrap around the head. Gets to the ball with a strong front leg, doing an excellent job of keeping the hands behind the rotation of the hips. Drove the ball with authority from the pull side line to the center of the field. Recorded an impressive exit velocity of 90 MPH, an event best. Defensively- Pre-pitch hop step to get the body into position. Aggressively approaches the ball with good body control fielding the ball in front of the body. Athletic footwork around the bag, showing an ability to get to the glove side on the 3-6-3 double play. Recorded an arm velocity of 62 MPH on the day, but could benefit from a quicker transfer and shorter arm action. Interesting prospect that projects to be an impact bat at the next level.
