Evenly proportioned 6-foot-0 170 pound frame for the 3B/RHP. Offensively- Shoulder width setup that is slightly open; minimal loading action of the hands. Stays in the legs throughout the swing with some cross-cut through the zone to his pull side. Plenty of line drives from his pull side through the middle. Defensively- Side shuffles when moving to glove side; hands can get back on the body. Needs some work finessing his footwork and allowing the hands to get out in front. Pitching- Sets up arm side before shifting to a center rubber setup; belt high leg drive. Arm action is long and works through a 3/4 slot. Around the zone with secondary offerings; breaking ball showed some late 11-5 action.
10/14/17
Saba is a 5-foot-11 160-pound right-handed third baseman and pitcher. He ran a 7.46 60. Offensively- Starts with slightly open stance, uses stride for timing upon load. Quiet hands. Good bat speed, quick and compact to the ball. Extends well through the ball to generate 77 MPH exit velocity; gap hitter. Defensively- Hangs back on forehands, letting ball get underneath. Creates angle to get around the ball; ¾ arm slot with arm strength at 69 MPH. Was 72 back in August. Would like to see him work through the ball better with hands out in front. Pitching- Starts with both feet on the rubber. Brings knee slightly past waist. Throws downhill with late acceleration/intent. Extends through towards the plate. Fastball sits 72-74 MPH, and tops 74 MPH. Late break on the curveball; 12-to-6 action at 63-64 MPH, will need to work on overall command but on the right track. .
8/15/17
Saba stands 5-foot-11, 160-pounds with a lean build, room for growth. Offensively- Slightly open stance, strides to even for timing. Compact to the ball, signs of next-level bat feel. Strong quick hands, loose swing with full extension. Exit velocity was 78 MPH. Defensively- Stays behind ball, gains ground on throws, choppy arm-action, 72 MPH arm-strength across the diamond. 3B/2B projection; offensive game demonstrates more polish at the moment.
