Physical: Projectable, strong 6-foot, 190lb frame with some power available. 7.40 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Upright, narrow stance at an open position as the hands showed a loose, rhythmic start by the shoulder. Utilized a leg lift stride, stretching to a wider attack and launched through a slightly uphill, whippy path into the hitting zone. Produced a 40% line drive rate (via Trackman) while hitting behind the ball with a consistent, direct slot at the plate. Matched pitch-plane and featured good bat to ball skills, recording a T91 mph bat-exit velocity at his peak showcasing mostly singles power in the approach. Could lift on occasion up to around a 250 foot batted ball distance.
Defensively: The backstop demonstrated a wider, traditional setup with the knees facing outward; the glove hand worked adequately to the catch as pop times ranged from 2.01-2.07 (short, replaceable feet, higher posture). Released from a repeatable, H ¾ slot at 72 mph, accurately on the bag.
2/18/21
Physical: Lengthy, projectable 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame with lots of strength present in the actions offensively. 7.53 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Started from an upright, slightly open stance with the hands flat showing rhythm above the shoulder. Utilized a leg lift stride in order to initiate the bat head through a whippy and leveraged, slightly vertical path into the hitting zone. Recorded a 46% fly ball rate during his batting practice round, (loft) which played well in unison with a 307 foot batted ball distance / 18% hard hit rate. Demonstrated repeatable bat speed in the box (72 mph average) with ability to get extended through the baseball with authority. Liked the pitches over the plate where he could drive it where it was pitched into either gap in the approach, interesting hitter with ability to keep getting better. Up to a 93 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: The primary backstop featured good hip mobility from a one knee down (LKD) stance while receiving, solid pocket awareness and can roll the thumb up through the low pitch. Pop times ranged from 2.12-2.23 with quick straight line footwork and average quickness on the release, accurate high ¾ slot from a short takeaway. Got as high as a 74 mph throwing arm which points to noticeable strength behind the dish. Showed feel for blocking skills getting the frame around pitches laterally on either side of the dish, followed the glove hand into the dirt.
9/19/20
Physical: Sturdy and strong 6-foot, 190-pound frame with power in the lower half. 7.44 runner in the 60-yard dash. Offensively: RHH. Narrow, wide open stance with an upright setup as the hands started with controlled rhythm flat on the shoulder. Utilized a leg hang stride with good stretch in the load in order to initiate the hands through an efficient, slightly uphill path and into the hitting zone. Generated plenty of sink into the lower half creating plenty of ground power in the box, jolted the hands towards the front of the plate while holding posture allowing for hard backspin contact deep to the LCF gap during his batting practice round. Advanced swing mechanics overall and above average maturity in the box, consistently found the barrel regardless of quadrant pitched into. Strong top hand yielding a peak of 92 mph bat-exit velocity according to Trackman Baseball / 56% line drive rate and 22% hard hit percentage which was more than impressive. Defensively: The primary backstop featured solid receiving abilities with a soft glove hand at the catch point. Pop times ranged from 2.11-2.24 out of a low setup using short and quick straight line footwork which gained ground towards the target. Fast transfers from glove hand to throwing ear and held posture in the positioning well on throws creating accuracy on the bag. Released from an accurate, short high ¾ slot and moved well on either side of the plate while blocking with recovery ability. C - 70 mph
