Large lanky frame with projectability. Long arms and legs that help to generate leverage. Shows great control for his size. Begins with large leg kick and drops weight on back leg to generate power and push. Long fluid take away with a live arm. Works confidently with all pitches with arm side run on his FB that peaked 84 mph. CB shows good down break 2/7 action from the LH side. More velo will come with increased strength.
Preseason - Western (February 19, 2018)
Hear stands 6-foot-4, 190-pounds with the ideal pitchers frame. He uses quick pace to his delivery, high knee lift, drives hard of his back side with some lean towards home before he releases the ball. Arm-swing is shorter and fluid with a full finish out in front. Fastball jumps in at 81-82 mph (up three MPH since Sept.) from a high 3/4 slot with arm-side run. Curvball sat 71-72 with some looseness, more hand-speed out in front will help add more shape and depth. Change-up was 76-77 with arm-side fade. Overall, Hearn has put in some serious work this offseason and it shows, smoothing out his front side mechanically with help him make even more strides forward, very excited to watch him this spring/summer.
Western NY All-Star Games (September 24, 2017)
Hearn stands in at 6-foot-4 190 pounds hitting and throwing from the left side. Offensively- Open stance with weight pre-loaded over backside; glides hands back with a stride that works it's way back to even. Works lower half into swing with a slightly upward approach with his swing path. Flyballl/line drive results with a peak exit velocity of 84 MPH.Defensively- Active footwork, fields ball deep with a transfer off of his hip. Short arm action into and up right release. Uses a low 3/4 to almost side arm release at times. Peak velocity on throws across to 3B was 71 MPH. Handles himself around the bag well and is a serviceable defender. Pitching- Sets up center rubber, slight coil with a mid-chest leg drive. Arm action stays short like an infielder with a low 3/4 arm slot. Hides the ball well and maintains arm speed with secondary offerings. FB sat 77-79 MPH with potential additional velocity in the tank if arm action can be elongated. Change up checked in at 70-71 MPH while breaking ball had some sweeping action with late downward break, an effective back foot pitch to right-handed hitters.
