2/8/20 Pitching
Delivery Notes: Spencer threw from a ¾ arm slot and moved well with a clean arm action. He created good downhill leverage on his pitches.
Fastball: Fastball was 70-75 mph and mostly true through the zone.
Fastball Spin Rate:1820-1940
Curveball: Breaking ball was 59-62 mph and profiled as a true overhand curveball. The pitch wasn’t particularly sharp but did show decent depth.
Curveball Spin Rate: 1870-2000
Changeup: Changeup was 63-66 mph and mostly true through the zone but did show some late downward dip at times.
Pitchability: Overall average three pitch mix but did show fairly good command of his fastball and overall would profile as a strike thrower.
1/13/19 Pitching
Body Type: 5-foot-5 173-pound prospect with a small build.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Threw from a true ¾ arm slot with a clean arm action. Overall showed a smooth, dynamic delivery and used his lower half well.
Fastball: 70-72 mph fastball showed some natural sink.
Curveball: 56-58 mph breaking ball showed true curveball spin and shape. Good depth on the pitch.
Changeup: 66-68 mph changeup showed some decent depth. He killed spin well on the pitch.
Pitchability: Good 3 pitch mix with good command of all 3 to both sides of the plate.
Role: Showed good stuff and actions on the mound. Future role will be dictated on whether or not he is able to increase his velocity.
1/13/19
Body Type: 5-foot-5, 173-pound frame with some physicality to it.
Swing Mechanics: Lefty swinger that starts in an open setup. Quiet hands with a short stride for timing.
Hit: Level stroke with feel for the barrel. Works inside a middle of the field approach where he can generate consistent backspin. Consistently stroked line drives in BP.
Power: 69 mph exit velocity. Line drive guy with more to come. Strength is a more present tool than bat speed at this stage.
Offensive Projection: TBD.
Run: 5.13 H-1st.
Field: Mechanically sound with above average ball skills. Clean defender.
Throw: 69 mph to home plate. Very clean, accurate arm. Could see more strength down the road easily.
Defensive Projection: Corner Outfielder at this stage with actions that could play in center if foot speed increases.
