Bennett LaPalm: LHP/OF, (2023) Bellbrook, OH. Dayton Commit, 6-foot, 180-pound. Solid on the mound, had a quick arm action and a high ¾ arm angle with some arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and uses easy effort. Showed athletic balance point with downhill shoulders. Showed slight running action. (Max spin 2420; Avg 2308). Bennett LaPalm: LHP/OF, (2023) Bellbrook, OH. 6-foot, 170-pound. At the plate, Lapalm recorded an exit velocity of 88 mph. (64.2 mph bat speed average). (21.1 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced wide stance with a quick load, then used a short controlled stride. Bat speed is efficient, exhibits an uphill swing plane and high good extension on his finish. In the outfield, he showed a plus arm and had life on his throws with a position velocity of 89 mph;showed a twitchy exchange, aggressive developing feet, and firm hands. One hand out front fielding mechanics. Advanced on the mound, uses a high ¾ ¾ arm angle and an loose clean arm action. Feel up-tempo type pitcher who uses some effort. Produced a fastball that came in at 86-88 mph. Showed hard action. (Max spin 2232; Avg 2174). He threw a 1/7 sharp curveball (66-70). (Max spin 1927; Avg 1864). He shows sinking action on his changeup (75-76). He had sweeping action on his slider (71-73). (Max spin 2007; Avg 1942).

1/18/21

Hit: Physical bat from the left side. Uses a simple loading sequence that flows into a backside launch. Uphill path with respectable bat speed. Worked middle of the field in BP.
Power: Flashed gap abilities.
Offensive Projection: Middle.
Field: Plays with good tempo, showed developing ball skills.
Throw: Arm has a chance to be a well above average tool.
Defensive Projection: Corner outfield.

Delivery/Scouting Notes: High follow in the 2023 class. A well put together prospect who ran the fastball up to 82mph. Talking to the Canes staff he's a guy who's taken huge jumps over the past calendar year. Secondary stuff will need to come along but there's a lot to like here.
Fastball: Regular arm side action. Low 80s with potential for much more.
Breaking Ball: Pops out of the hand with 1/7 shape and gradual action.
Changeup: Developing third offering with some dive to it.
Pitchability: Strike thrower for the most part.
