Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
A righty swinger that starts in a tall, open stance, Athletic load with an aggressive lower half. Compact stroke with a nice level path. Balances intent and control well to swing. Ball comes off well. Middle of the lineup type with easy gap abilities. Liked what I saw in BP and he crushed a few balls into the gap in game. A third baseman with the frame and feel for the position. Feet are smooth and well timed, creating angles/maintaining rhythm through fielding. Ball skills are also above average for class. Really solid defender.

6-foot-0 and 205-pound right-handed pitcher with a physical build. Works at a quick tempo through a chest high leg lift. Creates tilt during the stride with good direction towards home plate. Long arm action working out of a low-3/4 slot. Fastball shows consistent arm side run while sitting 79-82 MPH. Offered two types of breaking balls. The slider works at 69-72 MPH with sweeping 10/4 action through the zone. At 66-67 MPH the curveball has 11/5 tilt with developing depth. Showed ability to throw both breaking ball for strikes. Two-way prospect. A third baseman that plays with short, quicker footwork. Creates angles and plays through baseball well. Glove looks to be reliable and works on the move. Arm plays on the left side. Solid Defender. A physical bat from the right side. Movements are athletic and he starts them early. Loading sequence creates a ton of energy when on time. Shifts weight well into contact. Swings on a slightly downhill plane with impressive strength to hands. Middle of the lineup type.

Vargas doesn’t get cheated at the plate. A middle of the lineup bat that swings with the intent to do damage. Lower half produces energy and timing through a leg kick timing trigger and aggressive stride. Barrel launches from a vertical position, giving him early bat speed and easy whip through the zone. Has a tendency to get to front side early but when he controls his weight the ball flies. Tied with Hussey for the high exit velocity of the day at 87 mph. Also stood out defensively at third base. Glove works well and footwork is fluid/mechanically sound. Actions are athletic and remain on the move. Showed more than enough arm to stay on the left side of the infield.
