Towering 6-foot-6, 195-pound frame, high waist with evenly proportioned weight. Controlled leg-lift into a slightly coiled balance point, over the top release. Fastball worked in the 85-87 mph range with over 2500 RPM at times with slight run and carry. Changeup worked in the 77-80 mph range with over 15” of run at times.

Bret Baldus: RHP/OF, (2021) Avon, OH. 6-foot-7, 190-pound projectable frame. At the plate, the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 95 mph. Starts in an athletic stance with a high quick load, then uses a toe tap. Bat speed is average and uses a level swing plane. On the mound, showing quick arm speed he used a quick arm action and a high ¾ arm angle. Up-tempo type pitcher who uses some effort. Has an athletic balance point. Threw his fastball 84-85 mph; showed running action and arm side command. Threw a 11/5 curveball (68-69) with plus action. Had arm side command and fading action on his changeup (76-77). Shows a 11/5 slider (69-70) with plus action. 

Hit: Right-handed hitter that starts in an upright setup. Long lever bat who can do damage when he gets extended. Physical over speed stroke presently. Flashed gap abilities.
Power: Ball jumps, easy gap abilities with more to come.
Offensive Projection: Middle ceiling.
Max BP Exit Velocity: 93mph.
Max BP Distance: 334ft.

Scouting Notes: Not hard to see the upside with Baldus. 6-foot-7, up to 84mph with feel for the zone. Everything is downhill and velocity plays up. Secondary stuff was average and will need to come a long prior to the collegiate level but that length/velocity will put college coaches in the stands.
Fastball: 83-85mph.

2/9/20 Pitching
Delivery Notes: Tall/lanky build with room to grow. Shows a fast tempo delivery with a short quick arm action out of the high ¾ slot. Stays closed through his delivery.
Fastball: Comes through the zone with some zip at 83mph, inconsistent with arm side run and accuracy.
Curveball: 12/6 break at 68mph. Slows arm speed down and struggles with accuracy. 
Changeup: Keeps arm speed the same. Ball shows some vertical sink to it at 74mph.

2.20.19 - 6-foot-4, 180-pound, right-handed pitcher, lanky, long-limbed frame. Tilt and topple style, tall and coiled balance, high front side, closed shouldered, strides slightly closed, some athleticism in finish. Early draw out of glove, short, two-part arm action, over the top slot with some looseness out front, regular effort. Fastball played straight with run at times, some tilt, 75-78 mph, topped 79 mph. Curveball, gradual 12/6 break, slows arm,  61-63 mph. Slider, same shape and action as curve, flashed depth, 59-61 mph. Changeup, near fastball arm speed, some vertical depth, 66-68 mph.
