8/2/16 6-foot, 190-pound athletic body frame. From the infield he uses good footwork to approach the baseball while moving well laterally, showing the ability to cover good ground. Fields with his hands out in front of his body. Throws with a clean arm action through a ¾ slot and can throw from different arm slots when he needs to. Has the arm strength to stay at the shortstop position at the next level using 83 mph velocity across the infield. The right-handed hitter has strength in his swing, with quickness to his hands. Hits from an slightly open stance creating a little weight shift to his back leg to initiate the lower half before striding back to being even. Has a fluid load with his hands moving past his back shoulder. Swings with a slightly upward bat path through the zone finishing with a one-handed follow through. Reached a top exit velocity of 84 mph and ran a 4.41 home to first base time. On the mound we saw an increase in velocity from the last time we saw him just a few months ago. Uses regular, but not a whole lot of effort to his delivery. Lands just slightly more closed at foot strike carrying his momentum in good direction. Has a hook in his wrist in the back of his arm action, throwing from a high ¾ slot and will drop down to change arm angles. HIs fastball ranged between 83-86 mph. Throws his curveball with late, sharp break close to 12/6 at 68-70 mph. Features a slider with good, tight shape at 81-82 mph. Will also mix in a changeup using good arm speed with sinking action at 70-74 mph.
5/31/16 5-foot-11, 180-pound athletic build. On the mound he shows a deceptive delivery. Throws from two arm slots, over the top and side arm. Shows some run on the fastball from the sidearm angle. Fastball sat 77-81 mph. Curveball has 11/5 tilt at 63-68 mph. Changeup sat 72-74 mph. At the plate he starts in an athletic setup with his bat vertical. Uses minimal load with his hands during his short stride forward. A lack of weight transfer causes him to take a slightly uphill path. Above average batspeed and strength to his swing. Leveling out his bat path would help him generate backspin more frequently. Registered 85 mph exit velocity off the tee and ran a 4.4 from home to first. Showed off quick footwork and a loose arm across the infield. Threw with 81 mph arm strength. Would like to see him create angles prior to fielding position to be able to field through the ball more frequently.
