6/7/16 6-foot-2, 198-pound impressively built prospect. Arguably the most athletic pitcher in attendance. Very fluid mechanically with a smooth delivery that requires little effort. Has clean arm action with above average armspeed. Fastball sat 84-87 mph and we have seen him up to 90 mph as recent as this spring. Curveball improves each time we see him. Still needs to continue to develop the pitch. Also showed more feel for his 77 mph changeup.
4/4/2016 Has a strong, athletic build at 6-foot-2, 195-pounds. This was our first real look at Cory and he didn’t disappoint, striking out fourteen Westerville North hitters. His fastball had heavy arm-side run while consistently ranging between 84-88 mph, touching 90 mph on multiple occasions. The harsh weather conditions made his velocity and ability to work both sides of the plate even more impressive. Brooks works through a high-¾ slot with above average arm speed and looseness to his arm. Should expect velocity to jump even higher as it warms up and he continues to mature. His go to offspeed pitch was a big-breaking, 11/5 shaped curveball at 69-73 mph. Moving forward he will have to tighten the pitch up a bit. Also, showed feel for a 75-76 mph changeup that he mixed in a few times throughout the game.
