Comments

6/7/16
5-foot-11, 168-pound athletic frame. Does a nice job at the plate of getting efficient use out of his lower half. His loose hands and bat tip load give him excellent whip through the zone. Has more batspeed than his 83 mph exit velocity would indicate. Had impressive pop to his pull side. Doesn’t have ideal size for a catcher but all the intangibles are there. Has obvious leadership abilities and handled his staff well. Has a natural feel for the position. Receiving, blocking, and footwork are all above average tools. Recorded impressive pop times of 1.90-1.96 and threw with 77 mph arm strength to second base.

6/9/15
5-foot-10, 162-pound athletic frame. At the plate the right handed hitter starts open and gets to even. Is spread out when foot lands with a flat swing to high finish. Registered top exit velocity of 87 mph and ran 7.18-60. Behind the plate he shows quick feet, but opens up on his transfer. Throws from a short, high 3/4 slot with pop times ranging 1.94-2.12 and 78 mph arm strength from home to second.
2/16/15
5-foot-10, 162-pound strong, athletic build. Earned his Top Prospect Games invite after his performance. From behind the plate he shows good footwork and gets his feet in line. Clean exchange with pop times of 2.06-2.15 and 76 mph velocity to second. Right-handed hitter with an open stance. Shows good bat speed, but at times very mechanical. Able to use the whole field during batting practice with 81 mph exit velocity and ran 7.16-60.

6/16/14
5-foot-10, 160-pound average frame. From the catcher’s position he has athletic feet to work with but could improve his footwork just by squaring his feet up and getting more directional towards second base, has a tendency to want to leak his weight towards third base on throws. He uses a short arm action coming from a high ¾ slot reaching a top velocity of 73 mph. His pop times were between a 2.12-2.18. From the outfield, he comes from a ¾ slot producing some descent carry on his throws reaching a top velocity of 81 mph which can only increase by working on creating a crow hop. Right-handed hitter starts with an open set up getting back to even, uses a hands back to shoulder trigger almost getting to an arm bar. He reached a top exit velocity of 79 mph. He ran a 4.40 from home to first-base during his BP at bat, but ran a little quicker down the line during a game at bat with a 4.28 to first base.
