Gannon Wentz: RHP/C, (2022) Thomas Worthington, OH. 5-foot-10, 150-pound. Solid during batting practice, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 81 mph. (63.73 mph bat speed average). (20.34 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced stance with a controlled load, then used a small leg kick. Bat speed is average developing, uses a short simple swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels in his rounds. Line drive base hit approach. Solid in the infield, his best throw was recorded at 73 mph; has soft consistent hands, a natural fluid exchange, and average athletic feet. Uses his glove out front. While catching, he produced a position velocity of 75 mph during throw downs; has soft hands, a natural fluid transfer, and in control consistent feet. recorded a pop time of 2.03-2.12. Some flexibility and clean setup. Had a compact arm action with consistent accuracy to the base. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.4.  (Max spin 2313; Avg 2152). 


Gannon Wentz: C/RHP, (2022) Thomas Worthington, OH. 5-foot-10, 150-pound. Solid during batting practice, Wentz had an exit velocity of 83 mph. Starts in a tall balanced stance with a controlled small load, then uses a short stride. He found some barrels during his rounds. Pull side approach. Behind the plate, throw downs to second were maxed at 74 mph; has soft sure hands, athletic feet, and a natural exchange. recorded a pop time of 2.03-2.09. Had calm setup. Showed a very quick arm action and a high ¾ slot. Clocked a 60 time of 7.4 at the event. 


Gannon Wentz: C/RHP, (2022) Thomas Worthington, OH. 5-foot-10, 150-pound athletic frame. In the box, Wentz had an exit velocity of 84 mph. Starts in an athletic stance with a smooth controlled load, then uses a leg kick. Bat speed is average and shows a level swing plane. Athletic in the infield, his position velocity was registered at 84 mph; has athletic feet, sure hands, and a clean exchange. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. While catching, he recorded a position velocity of 77 mph during throw downs; had a quick clean exchange, athletic footwork, and soft hands. Recorded pop times of 2.02-2.15. Athletic setup with above average flexibility. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 7.32. On the mound, showed quick arm speed, also used a ¾ arm angle with a quick arm action. Up-tempo type pitcher who shows easy effort. Showed a tall balance point. Produced a fastball that came in at 80-83 mph; showed running action and arm side command. Showed a 11/5 curveball (66-70) with plus action. Had arm side control and fading action on his changeup (73-73).

5-foot-10, 150-pound slim frame. Raw at the plate, the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 75 mph. Began in an athletic stance with a smooth controlled load, then used a leg kick. Had average bat speed and a level swing plane. Line drive approach. Behind the plate, he made strong, efficient throws to second at velocities up to 80 mph; has soft hands, a quick exchange, and athletic feet. Had consistent pop times of 2.08-2.30. Had athletic setup. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.5. Solid on the mound, used a quick arm action and a ¾ arm angle while showing good arm speed. Up-tempo type pitcher who uses high effort. Changeup (74-75 mph), knuckle (60-61 mph).Threw his fastball 80-82 mph; shows arm side command and slight running action. He threw a 11/5 curveball (65-68).


5-foot-10, 135-pound thin, projectable body frame. Has fluid footwork and athletic actions from behind the plate. Gets everything moving in a straight line on his throws to second base with a clean arm action through a ¾ slot recording pop times of 2.02-2.16 and a velocity of 74 mph. On the mound he throws with regular to some effort to his delivery. Throws with quick arm speed through a ¾ slot but is not afraid to change his arm slot on all of his pitches. Fastball has some arm-side run at times between 78-81 mph. Curveball has late bite on an 11/5 plane with good depth at 68-69 mph. Changeup is thrown with fastball arm speed and has similar action as his fastball ranging from 70-72 mph.  Right-handed hitter starts from a balanced stance and uses a leg kick to initiate his lower half load. Hands have a short load moving his back shoulder with everything moving in sequence and on time, finishing his swing with a two-handed follow through. Showed the ability to hit the ball to both sides of the field during his round of BP reaching an exit velocity of 83 mph. Ran a 7.50 60-yard dash.


Hit:Ton of feel in the box. Everything is fluid/smooth throughout sequence. With his efficiency he is only going to raise stock as he becomes more physical. Barrelled up everything in BP, using the entire field. Impressive round.
Power:Line drive pop.
Offensive Projection:Multiple Roles.
Max BP Exit Velocity:85 mph
Max BP Distance: 251 ft
Field:Versatile defender that can play both the infield and behind the dish at an above average clip. Much like at the plate he's controlled and fluid throughout the process in the infield. Ball skills are above average. Behind the dish he has an above average skill set across the board. Solid defender.
Throw:Clean arm that will only continue to strengthen.
Defensive Projection: C/INF

Scouting Notes:Much like the rest of his game he showed fluidity and feel on the mound. Very efficient mover with a fast arm. Traditional slot generates FB velocity around 80 mph and he will drop down to subby at times. Also drops in a playbale breaking ball that he has feel for.
Fastball:78-80 mph.
Fastball Spin Rate:2032-2127
Breaking Ball:64-67 mph.
Breaking Ball Spin Rate:2033-2084
Changeup: 70-71mph.


2/17/20 Pitching
Delivery Notes: Smooth even paced delivery. Fluid long arm motion with a low ¾ arm slot. Drops down to the side arm occasionally.
Fastball: Arm side/two seam action with some zip coming in around 80mph
Curveball: Slider action at a 10/4 break with average depth and bite.
Changeup: Resembles fastball well with average arm side fade across the zone.

2/17/20 Position Player
Hit: Balanced setup from the right side of the dish. Simple and fluid swing mechanics. Incorporates a leg kick to generate lower half momentum. Level bat path through the zone.
Power: Line drive pop.
Offensive Projection: TBD.
Field: Quick feet behind the plate that moves well directionally. Good receivability with average catch and throw skills. Footwork and
glove skills both on par with his class in the infield.
Throw: Loose arm through a ¾ slot. 2.05-2.13 pop.
Defensive Projection: C/2B.


1/20/20 Position Player
Hit: Athletic movements to loading sequence. Uses a leg kick timing trigger during back load to hands. Swing has slight downhill tendencies as he typically arrived on top of the baseball in BP. A bit quicker than he is physical at this stage. Squared up the ball routinely in BP.
Power: Line drive pop with more to come.
Offensive Projection: Much more to come.

Field: Feet work well behind the dish. Creates solid direction and a natural throwing lane. Above average for class in general across the board. Also showed athleticism and ball skills in the infield.
Throw: Clean, loose arm with more strength to come. 
Defensive Projection: UTL. A prospect who should only get better as he matures physically.

1/20/20 Pitching
Delivery Notes: Throws from a ¾ arm slot with an overall clean arm action. Overall moves fairly athletically.
Fastball: Fastball was 75-80 mph and mostly true through the zone but did show some cut at times.
Fastball Spin Rate: 2000-2200
Curveball: Breaking ball showed slider type spin with minimal action at 63-65 mph.
Curveball Spin Rate: 1800-2000
Changeup: Changeup was 68-70 mph with some fade to the arm side.
Pitchability: Overall average feel for his three pitch mix.
