6/6/17
A right-handed hitter that starts in an open setup. Stands out immediately for his strength. Swing has some movement that puts him in a solid attack position when synced up. Swings with intent. Ball looked different off his bat. Has the present ability to put the ball out of the park. In the outfield he is mechanically sound and plays through the ball well. Arm played the best out of his group. Profiles better at first base. Footwork is quick and mechanically sound. Glove skills are there.

1/28/17
6-foot, 240-pound prospect. Best tool is his bat. Shows pull tendencies in his swing. Serious power and consistently takes aggressive hacks. Moves well around the bag at first base. Shows good reactions and feel for the position. Quick release on his throws with some zip to it (84 mph velo across the infield). Also shows potential on the mound with 83-85 mph fastball and hard 71-72 mph breaking ball.

1/22/17
At first base he gets off the bag well and has feel for the position. Does a nice job of fielding the ball out in front of his body. Could have more efficient footwork on his double play balls.  Continues to impress at the plate. Has big time pop from the right side with ability to drive the ball out of the park. Tends to get to front side early at times causing topspin. On the mound the right-hander has a slower tempo to a delivery that requires regular effort. From a high-3/4 slot his fastball sat 80-83 mph. Curveball has solid depth with big break at 66-71 mph. Slider has a sharper break than curveball as it darts across the plate at 68-69 mph. Also flashed a changeup near fastball arm speed at 76-77 mph. Continues to show feel for his knuckle ball that has impressive dance as it enters the zone.

2/4/17
5-foot-11, 240-pound strong frame. Continues to show very impressive raw strength and bat speed at the plate. Starts in an open setup and uses a leg kick to initiate lower half. Bat gets vertical prior to taking a slightly up hill path to the baseball. Ball jumps off his bat and he showed the ability to maintain pop to the opposite field. At first base he has athleticism to his footwork and gets off the bag well. Has obvious feel for the position with adequate glove skills.

1/16/17
Showed up noticeably more physical than the last time we saw him. At the plate he shows as much raw power as just about anyone in his class. Ball jumps off his bat. Strength and bat speed are far advanced for his age. Power potential to come.  A first baseman that has natural feel for the position. Much improved defensively since we last saw him. Also worked out in the outfield. Plays through the ball well and maintains momentum into his throws. A better fit at first base at this stage. On the mound the right-hander uses a quicker tempo to his delivery that requires some effort. Arm action is relatively clean with above average arm speed. Works through a near over the top slot with his four seam sitting 80-82 mph. Showed the ability to maintain velocity on his two seam that showed heavy run. Spins a very tight, 10/4 shaped breaking ball. The pitch was sharp and he showed feel for the pitch at 70-73 mph. Also displayed an impressive knuckle ball that had dance to it.

8/2/16
5-foot-11, 225-pound thick build. Gavin took one of the more impressive batting practice sessions we have seen in a long time. He took several balls out including a few line drives that got out in a hurry. He showed off his advanced strength and bat speed by registering an exit velocity of 96 mph. Recorded two hits in the game including a ball off the 400 sign to dead center field. Can really, really swing it. Defensively he has quick feet around the bag at first base. Moves well laterally for frame. Will need to continue to improve glove skills. Threw across the diamond with 81 mph arm strength. On the mound he works through a high-¾ slot and has some effort to his delivery. Above average arm speed. Fastball sat 81-82 mph with cut at times. Curveball has some sharpness to it with an 11/5 shape at 65-67 mph. Also showcased an impressive knuckleball at 61-62 mph.

7/6/16
5-foot-11, 225-pound thick body frame. A right-handed hitter who showed strength in his swing by hitting a homerun to left field during his round of batting practice. Hits from an open stance, using a leg kick for added strength to his swing. Needs to get himself squared back up to even more consistently. Uses a fluid load with his hands moving past his back shoulder and swings with a level bat path through the zone. He also showed the ability to use both sides of the field. Recorded a top exit velocity of 87 mph and ran a 7.53 60-yard dash. In the infield, he does a good job fielding the ball out in front of his body. Cradles the ball into his body and transfers into a high ¾ slot with 79 mph arm strength across the diamond. On the mound he shows slow tempo and rhythm before heading towards home plate. Throws with a short back arm action into a high ¾ slot with the fastball sitting 80-83 mph. Curveball shows sharp break at 70-72 mph. Knuckleball sat 68-71 mph with movement.
