6/7/16
6-foot-1, 200-pound strong, athletic frame. Has advanced strength at the plate with above average batspeed. Uses a leg kick to incorporate his lower half while keeping his hands simple during his loading sequence. Ball jumped off his bat in batting practice. A back leg hitter that would see immediate increase in backspin and pop with more weight transfer into contact. Registered an exit velocity of 91 mph and ran a 6.88 60-yard dash. A versatile defender that has top end athleticism at third base and behind the plate. Didn’t catch during game action but turned in a very impressive workout. Does a nice job of gaining ground towards second on his transfer. Adequate transfer skills. Impressive arm as he threw with 80 mph arm strength, putting the majority of his throws on the bag. Very efficient footwork prior to fielding the baseball. Plays through it well. Only adjustment would be to play slightly lower. Impressive 81 mph arm strength across the infield.

1/31/16
Hughes is a very strong and athletically built prospect at 6-foot, 200-pounds. He had a very impressive day showing well at the plate and his defensive versatility. At the plate he used a leg kick load to do an excellent job of shifting weight into contact. Hands stay simple and launch through the zone in a flat path. The ball jumped off his bat in batting practice consistently producing back spin on his line drives. Ran a 4.13 down the line and produced an exit velocity of 88 mph. Behind the plate he consistently say between 1.96-2.01 with his pop times. Using quick footwork he gave himself time to gear up his arm and with clean arm action fire the ball to second base with 80 mph arm strength. Showed well in the infield also as he had athletic actions and solid arm strength across the diamond.

6/8/15
6-foot, 195-pound athletic body frame. In the infield he shows pretty good footwork approaching and fielding ground balls. He fields the ball out front with his hands, bringing them into his body. He throws with a clean, short arm action coming from a ¾ slot and reached a top velocity of 77 mph. Left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance, using a leg kick back getting himself back to being squared up to even before he swings. No load with his hands, with a slightly upward bat path through the zone. He finishes high with a two-handed follow through, showing strength in his swing during his round of batting practice. He reached a top exit velocity of 87 mph and ran a good 7.07 60-yard dash time for a corner infielder/catcher.

2/7/15
6-foot, 195-pounds athletic build. In the infield he shows decent range and soft hands. Throws from a high-¾ slot that is a little stiff with 77 mph arm strength across the diamond. Left-handed hitter that starts open and gets to even. He does a good job keeping his hands inside the ball with strength in his swing and good power to the pull side. Registered top exit velocity of 87 mph and ran 4.19 home to first.
