6-foot-1, 190-pound physical prospect. Projects best as a pitcher, but plenty of tools to develop for the next level. Throws through high 3/4 arm slot with some effort. Arm shows some quickness. Fastball was a bit more downhill than the last time that we saw him Sat 86-89 mph with some run. Uses two off-speed pitches, including a slurvy 67 mph breaking ball and a 75-78 mph splitfinger fastball thrown with good arm speed. At the plate, he uses a toe tap to initiate his lower half. Takes slight uphill path. Loads his hands from above his shoulder. Pull power in his swing. Top exit velocity of 86 mph. Corner outfield type with top velocity of 85 mph. Some length to his exchange. Ran a 6.81 60.
2/23/14
6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect with big time athletic frame. Big time arm that continues to get more polished as he matures. Long arm action with some quickness. Tends to pause at height of leg kick. Will only continue to get better as lower half improves. Sat 85-87 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sat at 66-69 mph with late 11/5 action. Third pitch is a 69-71 mph split-finger fastball with good tumble. Shows raw tools as a position player. Ran a 6.94 60 yard dash. From the outfield, he throws through a 3/4 arm slot. Reached a top velocity of 91 mph with carry to his throws. Has some accuracy issues. Corner outfield type as his footwork needs to improve. At the plate, he shows big time raw power. Starts with an open stance. Tends to bar in his load. Uphill path to the ball. Obvious pull power. Top exit velocity of 90 mph.
7/29/13
6-foot, 175-pound prospect that projects as a pitcher at the next level. Right now, he is more of a thrower than a pitcher, but shows a live arm with plenty of time to develop and mature. Fastball sat 84-86 mph with some run and dropped down to 82 mph out of the stretch. Tendency to sit on his backside. Command was erratic at times, but put together dominating runs that showed off his potential. Breaking ball was 66-68 mph but didn’t locate consistently in the zone on this occasion. Also used a 66 mph knuckleball. From the outfield, he throws through a high ¾ arm slot. Reached a top velocity of 89 mph with carry to his throws. Will improve as footwork becomes more fluid and natural. At the plate, the right-handed hitter shows some power. Bars his arm in his load, which creates some length to his swing. Takes uphill path to the ball. Ran a 4.29 home to first time.
2/24/13
Shows plenty of potential for future. The 6-foot, 175-pound prospect registered a 7.18 60-yard dash on a very slow track. At this point, he needs to improve his footwork in both the infield and outfield, but he reached a velocity of 82 mph across the infield and 84 mph from the outfield. At the plate, he shows some bat speed (87 mph exit velocity). He will only get better as he simplifies his swing and creates a consistent path through the zone. On the mound, the righty showed off a quick arm and a 81-83 mph fastball with run to it. His curveball shows 11/5 break at 61-63 mph. His changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed at 71 mph and shows similar run to the fastball. Lastly, he throws a 67-68 mph splitter with good diving movement.
