Oakes has a big presence on the mound. At 6-4 and 260-pounds the physical right-hander shows developing arm strength. Working out of a ¾ slot with a fastball that has slight run to the arm side sitting 82-84 mph. Throws a changeup with late sink near the zone at 76-77 mph. Breaking ball needs continued development. The pitch presently lacks arm speed and sharpness. At 62-64 mph he shows a feel for the pitch.
