Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Body Type: 5-foot-10, 160-pound athletic frame. Hit: Ambush lower half with a rotational path. Natural tools are balanced, both strength and bat speed playing as respectable tools. All fields hitter. Low line drive/ground ball results in BP. Power: 89.3 mph off the bat in BP. Flashed gap abilities. Offensive Projection: Table Setter. Field: In the outfield he plays with quick feet to and through. Ball skills are on par for class. Does a nice job playing one-handed through and maintains momentum into throws. Throw: 3/4 left-hander with a whippy arm. Could easily see more velo down the road. Defensive Projection: Corner lean.
2/3/19 Pitching
Body Type: 5-foot-9, 160 pounds. Athletic built right-hander.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Releases out of a ¾ arm slot with average mechanics overall. Can improve flow by picking up his tempo and developing more rhythm with his top and bottom working together.
Fastball: 75-78 mph. Not much movement on it now. Has average command to it as well.
Curveball: 67-68 mph. Moves showed well with signs of sharper break at times. Release point is developing in consistency.
Changeup: 70-72 mph. Light arm-side run towards the end of the pitch with some depth following. Slows arm speed down.
Pitchability: Arm strength is average and that can be enhanced as he works to improve release points. Some slots were inconsistent leading to less movement at times behind his pitches while others saw more action. Still has time to improve his abilities and get close towards his potential.
Role: Bullpen.
2/3/19 Body Type: 5-foot-9 160-pound athletic frame. Swing Mechanics: Upright stance with simple hands during knee pinch movement with lower half. Hit: Slightly downhill path inside a compact stroke. Handsy hitter with fluid actions and feel for contact. Power: 86 mph exit velocity. Line drive guy with future gap abilities. Offensive Projection: Multiple Roles. Run: 7.27 60-yard dash. Field: Plays under control in the outfield with some athleticism to his actions. Throw: Arm works through a ¾ slot. Could see more velo in the tank. 78 mph strength to home plate. Defensive Projection: TBD.
2/4/18
On the bump the southpaw has good rhythm to his lower effort delivery. A drop and drive type guy with a compact arm. Fastball comes out well, showing signs of more velocity to come. Presently sits 73-75 mph with the pitch. Go to secondary offering looks to be his tight, near 12/6 breaking ball 65-67 mph. Also will toss a changeup, showing developing feel for the offering at 68-69. A lefty swinger that starts in a tall, open setup. A smooth swinger with an efficient loading sequence. Path is slightly downhill with noticeable whip through the zone. Barrel feel is there and he can produce regular backspin to the middle of the field. Both strength and bat speed are above average for class. In the outfield he plays fast to the baseball, slowing momentum a bit prior to fielding. Uses a quick crow hop to regain momentum prior to throwing. Threw with accuracy and some carry to home plate. Will need to continue to improve ball security as he develops.
