Louisville recruit. Reid was exceptional at shortstop for the Cincinnati Spikes, and played well above his age level. On one play, he worked towards third base on a slow roller, scooping the ball heading towards the line before firing a strike on the run to nail a runner at first base. He’s tall, at 6-foot-2, and has natural strength throughout a 180-pound frame. His quick, strong arm allows him to make throws from all over while his clean hands allow him to scoop up ground balls with ease. The right-handed hitter also singled in his first at-bat showcasing a short path to the ball along with some speed on the basepaths (6.82 60-yard dash).
6/05/18
The top overall position player at the event. An uber athletic kid with a 6-foot-2, 180-pound high waist/broad shoulder frame that will support more added strength. Skill set is advanced on both sides of the ball. Could easily see him staying at the shortstop position with a chance to be dynamic at the plate. Reid turned in the type of performance that will put his name squarely in the conversation for top position player in the state’s 2021 class.
In the infield he showed advanced abilities for his age. Plays with confidence and has athleticism to his actions. Glove works in and outside his funnel. Arm strength was impressive across the diamond. At the plate he starts in an athletic setup. Loading sequence is fluid and efficient. Path is slightly downhill to level and swing is compact. Consistently found the barrel in batting practice. Line drive type guy, flashing gap potential.
