1/25/21

Strong frame, clean arm action, on time separation, good extension

Velocities
FB: 87-89 (2150-2250 rpm)
SL: 72-76 (2337 rpm)

6/6/17
A talented arm in the 2018 class. The southpaw has an uptempo delivery that he is able to repeat. Arm is fast and loose, expect velocity to come. Currently sits 80-83 mph with his fastball that has some run to it. Spins a very good breaking ball at 66-69 mph. The pitch has considerable movement on a 2/8 plane with some depth. Change-up was a playable pitch. The offering showed late fade at 76-77 mph.

1/28/17
The southpaw has been a regular writeup at a couple of other winter events. This was my first time seeing him this winter. In many ways, he reminds me of ‘17 LHP Logan Sabo (Moeller/Montavello recruit). On this occasion, he sat 82-83, maintaining his velocity out of the stretch. His breaking ball will be an effective out pitch at the next level. It sat 69-70 mph with hard, 1/7 action down in the zone. Also mixed in a changeup that is thrown with good arm speed at 72-75 mph.

1/22/17
On the mound the southpaw has a fluid tempo to a delivery that requires some effort. Arm action is long and loose with well above average arm speed. Working through a high ¾ slot he sat 81-84 mph with his fastball. More velocity to come. His best offspeed pitch was his breaking ball that came in at 70-72 mph. The pitch showed late, sharp action on a 1/7 plane. Was able to consistently keep the pitch in the zone. His changeup was also an above average pitch at 73-74 mph. Had very good feel for it with late run and sink. Definite arm to follow in the 2018 class.

2/4/17
A southpaw who has made the most of his winter. Mechanically efficient with a fast arm. Has the ability to run and cut his mid 80s fastball. Once again showed a very impressive changeup that has a chance to be a plus pitch. Was able to work both sides of the plate with the offering that came in at 77-78 mph. Also spins a sharp, 1/7 shaped breaking ball at 69-70 mph.

1/16/17
6-foot-1, 175-pound projectable build. Slow tempo through a high lift while keeping weight over his back leg. Uses a long loose arm action with quickness through a low ¾ slot. Good direction at foot strike with some recoil in the finish. Fastball has cutting action while sitting 80-81mph and topping out at 82. Showed good feel for a 1/7 breaking ball that had good depth at 68-70 mph. Also threw a 72-73 mph change with some arm side run.

5/31/16
6-foot, 165-pound thin build with room to fill out. On the mound he shows a repeatable delivery with good direction to the plate and regular effort. Long back arm action into a high ¾ slot. Fastball sat 75-79 mph. Curveball sat 65-68 mph with gradual break. At the plate the lefty uses a simple hands back load during his short stride forward. Creates efficient energy into contact. Takes a level path to the ball and was able to consistently find the barrel in batting practice. Registered an exit velocity of 81 mph and ran a 5.1 from home to first. An athletic first baseman who has smooth footwork around the bag. Threw across the infield with 78 mph arm strength.
