Matthew Giberti: OF/C, (2021) Saint Ignatius, OH. Harvard Commit, 5-foot-11, 175-pound. In the box, the left-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 86 mph. Started in a balanced athletic stance with a controlled smooth load, then used a leg kick. Had quick bat speed, upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. Athletic from the outfield, his best throws to the bases were registered at 85 mph; has soft hands, a clean exchange, and consistent feet. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Showed a high ¾ slot and a long arm action. The athletic recruit showcased his speed with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.4.
2/9/20 Position Player
Hit: Efficient in the box. Swing mechanics are fluid and on time. Natural bat path creates some lift. Speed plays very well when he stays on top of the ball.
Power: Gap to gap pop. More of a ground and go type of hitter but still shows some pop.
Offensive Projection: Top of the lineup.
Top Rapsodo BP Exit Velocity: 83 mph.
Top Rapsodo BP Distance: 227 ft.
Field: Attacks the ball with intent in the outfield. Footwork and glove skills play very well for a ‘21. Works around the ball very well.
Throw: Slightly above average arm strength. Loose action through a ¾ slot. More mph’s still in there.
Defensive Projection: OF
2/2/20 Position Player
Hit:Looks the part in the box. Fluid, easy movements from the left side. Natural tools are obvious and he projects for more as he fills out frame. Impressive round. Obvious athleticism with the ability to backspin it to both gaps.
Power: Easy gap abilities.
Offensive Projection: Run producer.
Field: Aggressive defender whos athleticism is obvious throughout sequence. Speed and ball skills to play multiple spots.
Throw: Long arm with above average strength.
Defensive Projection:Multiple Spots
Swing Mechanics: Goes with a toe turn for timing as barrel flows to a vertical launch.
Hit: Swing really works, creating a ton of energy into contact. Very athletic stroke with advanced feel for the barrel, showing the ability to manipulate angles to consistently square up the baseball. Stand out round in BP.
Power: 85 mph exit velocity. Already gap abilities with more to come.
Offensive Projection: Run Producer potential.
Run: 6.79 60-yard dash.
Field: 2.05-2.13 pop times. Mechanically sound with some quickness to feet and transfer. Solid receiver in bullpens.
Throw: 72 mph arm strength to second base.
Defensive Projection: C.
Additional Comments: Left-handed hitting catcher with an impressive hit tool and 6.7 speed. Definitely something there.
A lefty swinger that gets things going with a leg kick. Fluid hands throughout load, giving him easy whip through the zone. Intent driven swing on an uphill path. More present strength than speed through the zone. Sneaky pop for frame.
