Offers a three-pitch mix with feel for all of his arsenal. Fastball shows slight run at times, sitting 79-83 mph. His curveball was the better of the two secondary offerings. The spinner has sharpness and depth to it while working on an 11/5 plane at 68-73 mph. Changeup is an above average offering as well. The pitch has late downward movement 76-77 mph. 2/12/17 5-foot-11, 197-pound strong frame. Schaffer is a two-way prospect out of Moeller HS. At the plate he brings advanced strength through contact with feel for the barrel. Consistently produced hard contact in batting practice, flashing signs of power potential to come. In the outfield he uses efficient footwork and plays through the baseball well. Maintains momentum into his throws that showed carry. On the mound, he showed potential sitting 82-84 mph. He located his fastball for strikes, but it was mostly straight. He used and located two breaking balls for strikes. His curveball showed 12/6 movement at 70 mph while his changeup had more 11/5 shape at 70-72 mph. He also mixed in a changeup at 73-76 mph that showed fade down in the zone.
10/15/16 A talented two-way prospect with a 5-foot-10, 200-pound frame. Was the most impressive bat of the day. Very rhythmic and smooth during his loading process prior to launch. Swings with aggression and intent. Creates leverage and a large margin of error with his mechanics, allowing his barrel to get on plane early and work freely through the zone. Showed impressive pull side pop, including a home run in BP. Reached a top exit velocity of 95 mph and ran a 7.66 60-yard dash. On the mound he showed solid pitchability with an array of pitches in his arsenal. Arm action is clean and loose with above average arm speed. Uses a four seam and two seam fastball that came in from 79-82 mph. Two seam showed heavy run at times. Flashed two different breaking balls, the better of which was his 10/4 shaped curveball that had solid depth and sharp action. His slider had less movement but still a quality pitch and does enough to miss barrels. Also showed a plus changeup that had run and fade to it.

Registered top exit velocity of an impressive 87 mph for his age and ran 7.68-60. From the outfield he take good routes and uses a good run thru. Gains momentum from his crow hop and throws from a high-3/4 slot with 79 mph arm strength. On the mound he has an up tempo delivery with simple lift and good direction at foot strike. Throws from a short, high-3/4 slot with fastball sitting 75-78 mph. Shows two different breaking balls. His curveball has bigger break at 63-65 mph with 11/5 actions. Throws a slider with tighter spin with later break at 66-70 mph. Also, slows down with his arm speed on his changeup at 66-69 mph.
