4/9/19 Report: 6-5, 210-pound righty. Noticeably better frame at 210 pounds as opposed to the 225 pound frame he played at last year. Obvious arm strength with repeatable delivery. Three pitch pitcher. First time through the lineup, stayed with the fastball, but later in the game, mixed in the curveball and changeup. True power arm. Although the competition is overmatched, Recker is showing more pitchability in 2019 than I saw a year ago. One of the top arms in the entire state.
Pitch Repertoire: Fastball: Heavy fastball that has some cut action to it. Sat 88-91 mph, topping out at 93, which he hit in both the 1st and 2nd inning. The first inning was extremely impressive, with the velo in the frame being 90, 91, 93, 91, 91, 90, 91, 92, 91. The velo maintained throughout the game, touching 90 in each of the first five innings. In the 6th, sat 87-89 and in the 7th sat 86-89.
Curveball: The breaker showed good 11/5 shape with depth and sharpness. Looks to have good feel for the pitch at 74-76 mph. Has the makings of a true out pitch.
Changeup: The change comes out of the same arm slot as the fastball, while showing some sink at 73-76 mph. Slows down the arm a tick, but also shows confidence in the pitch. Coming along as a nice third pitch for the righty.
8/4/17 Recker has a physical frame and showed obvious arm strength. Consistently blew his 89-90 mph fastball by hitters. Didn’t need to go to secondary offerings much in his one inning of work, but when he did, his 11/5 shaped breaking ball looked more than playable. The pitch showed depth/sharpness and he looked to have above average feel for the spinner.
7/26/16 Has a big frame at 6-foot-2, 212-pounds. On the mound he will need to improve command, but has an impressive fastball for his age. Far from a max effort guy and sat 83-86 mph with his fastball. Spins an 11/5 shaped breaking ball that has some sharpness to it at 67-70 mph. Has some upside to him and is a definite follow in the 2019 class.
