2/9/20 Pitching Delivery Notes: Thornton showed a long, projectable frame. He had a slow, methodical tempo to his delivery and threw from a ¾ arm slot. Fastball: Fastball was 71-74 mph with some ‘ride’ and life through the zone. Fastball Spin Rate: 2050-2240 Curveball: Breaking ball was 62-64 mph and showed slurvey shape with some good depth at times. Curveball Spin Rate: 2110-2190 Changeup: Changeup was 66-67 mph and did show some depth. Pitchability: Pretty good feel for his three pitch mix. Needs to gain strength to get more out of his big frame. His pitch mix shows the potential to develop into a quality mix as he adds strength and velocity.
2/9/20 Position Player Hit:Lefty bat with advanced tools for class. Ball jumps. Combines aggression with accuracy well. Squared up everything in BP. Power:Gap pop. Offensive Projection:Run producer. Field:Comfortable over at third base. Young defender who will only improve with age. Tools to work with. Throw: Clean arm more strength to come. Defensive Projection: Corner Guy.
