Sam Donko is the No. 39 ranked player in the Class of 2013 in the State of Ohio. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound RHP is one of the top uncommitted pitchers in the state of Ohio. He will be participating in the PA Top Prospect Games in October.
10/9/12 Donko, an uncommitted senior, traveled from Ohio to showcase his abilities. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound right-handed hitter used one of the top bat exit speeds of the event (90mph) to drive baseballs to all fields during an impressive round of batting practice. Donko went to the mound in the fourth inning of Game #2 and immediately gained the attention of everyone in the stadium. Donko used a high 3/4 delivery to light up the radar gun and send hitter after hitter back to the dugout. In two innings of work, he yielded one hit while striking out six. Donko sat 88-89mph with his fastball. He also utilized an 11/5 breaking curveball at 75mph and a 78mph slider that is a plus out pitch. Donko's fastball has good late life and is thrown with very good rhythm. Donko was named the MVP of the Red Team for his efforts.
7/17/12
6-foot-1, 230-pound right-handed pitching prospect. Big, solid build with strong lower half. Shows short arm action through a high ¾ arm slot. Delivery requires some effort. Control should improve as he cleans up some balance issues. Fastball fluctuates between 84-88 mph, sitting at 86 mph most of the time. Shows good command of several off-speed pitches. Curveball sits 70-72 mph with late 11/5 break. Also uses a sharp slider that sits 71-72 mph. Changeup sits between 76-79 mph. It is thrown near fastball arm speed and shows some sink.
