5/31/17 A left-handed hitter that flashed signs of middle of the lineup potential at the next level. Loading sequence is simple yet efficient. Movements create torque and separation. Path is level with solid whip through the zone. Ball comes off his bat well. Present gap to gap pop with more in there. At first base he gets off the bag well. Would like to see him play lower at fielding position. Showed feel for the position. Glove skills are above average at this stage. A Two-way prospect. On the mound the southpaw has a smooth tempo to a delivery he is able to repeat. Arm action is clean and delivery requires little effort. Ball comes out of his hand well. Fastball was consistently in the zone at 76-78 mph. Showed confidence in the offering, consistently challenging hitters with it. Looked very comfortable with his 66-71 mph changeup. Was able to maintain fastball arm speed to the pitch that had late fade to it. Home to First: 4.72 Infield Velocity: 69 Exit Velo: 89
2/18/17 6-foot-2, 210-pound prospect. At the plate he starts in a tall, slightly closed setup. Weight starts on his back leg and tends to stay there at contact, causing an uphill path. Would like to see him transfer weight into contact to level out his path and produce more consistent ball flight. The natural tools are there as he showed well above average strength and bat speed through the zone. Impressive pop to his pull side. Good frame for the first base position. Comes off the bag with urgency. Good job fielding the ball out in front. Transfer is clean. Throws from ¾ to high ¾ slot with accuracy. On the mound, the southpaw displays smooth clean arm action through a ¾ slot. Fastball displays some arm-side run while ranging between 77-81 mph. Breaking ball spins at 74-76 mph. With his changeup he uses arm speed much similar to his fastball making it a deceptive 74-75 mph pitch.
