6/04/12
6-foot-2, 200-pound athletic player with some raw skills. Ran 6.83 60-yard dash. Corner outfield type. Shows some carry on throws with a top velocity of 86 mph from the outfield. Has upright stance as a hitter. Uses shoulder trigger and good lower half torque. Good power potential. Could improve swing by improving pre-swing movement and simplifying load. On the mound, he shows good delivery with upper 3/4 arm slot. Needs to get more lower torque in follow through. Fastball fairly straight at 80-81 mph. Has some downward spin plane on curve (68-69 mph). Also shows some sink on change (70-71 mph).
1/28/12
Strong physical body with some strength projection. Best position is corner OF. Good raw skills (5.13 40 yd & 4 grade arm 77-79 mph). Hits from power crouch. gets excellent tourque from lower body. Has strength in hands, good bat speed into zone with controlled upper-cut. Will need to improve consistency in stride staying square to the pitcher. Has definite HR pop projection. Defensively, corner type with 4 grade arm and life in body. On the mound, he shows a deliberate delivery, gets extension with moderate 3/4 arm speed. Fastball fairly straight (80-81 mph). Shows spin on downward tilt curve and shows change that's fairly straight (70 mph). Mid-major D-1 corner OF.
12/4/11
Pfeifer is a big, athletic prospect. In the field, he moves well and shows a top velocity of 83 mph from the outfield. He likely projects as a corner outfielder at the next level. At the plate, the left-handed hitter uses a short stride and stays balanced throughout his swing. He has a strong, explosive lower half and quick bat speed. The ball jumps off his bat. He does an excellent job seeing the ball deep into the zone and reaching full extension. He registered a 7.22 60-yard dash on a slow track. On the mound, the right-hander uses an over the top arm slot and short arm action. His fastball sits between 78-81 mph and has slight run. He changes his arm speed when throwing his 65-66 mph curveball. He also changes his arm speed when throwing his 69-70 mph changeup.
