9.27.18 Reports from this summer have seen Haynes fastball velocity jump and was touching 85-86 in Indianapolis this summer while he now sits in the 82-83 range consistently. CB still has his downward 12/6 shape with rotation and potential to be a put way pitch while the changeup is developing in the mid 70's range. Upside is now starting to come to fruition and Haynes is a 19' arm that will fit in and continue to trend upward once he gets on campus next fall.
3.31.18 A tall and long-limbed two-way player with a strong lower half and a great frame that projects more towards the mound. At the plate, Haynes swings it from the right side. He shows good balance and some quick hands through the zone. Short leg kick load, able to transfer weight over from his backside effectively when he drives the bat head through the zone. Displays athleticism in the infield, arm works cleanly, ball comes out at 79 mph. On the bump, Haynes works from a high-¾ slot, is able to effectively throw downhill with some late tailing action on his fastball which sits between 79-81 mph. Curveball has some bite and gets good downward depth with 12/6 shape at 68-72 mph, while Haynes also shows a feel for his changeup. Overall, an interesting 2019 two-way player with tools both in the box and on the mound and should be a good follow for coaches leading into the summer.
10.22.17 Big strong framed right-hander with ideal pitchers frame at 6-foot-3, 195-pounds. Arm works from clean, h-3/4 slot and allows him to create downward angle on his pitches. Small leg kick but uses his lower half and drives off backside well. Fastball works in the 80-82 range with more in there, shows ability to spin the curveball with near 12/6 shape and downward action at 70-71, when he is on-time and allows his arm to catch up it can be an above average pitch. Like the makeup, frame, and body of work. Not many innings on the arm, could be a sleeper from small town with plenty of upside, strength, and stuff in his arsenal.
2.20.17 Tall and lean frame that projects more size and strength to come at 6-foot-3, 190-pounds. Ran a 7.53 in his lasered 60. First baseman who made all the plays and showed he could turn the double play ball. Was clocked across the diamond at 73 mph. At the plate, hits from wide spread stance, toe turn to load with front foot while he rocks back creating rhythm to ball from launch position, looks to lift baseball off backside and drive in the air. When on time he showed ability to drive ball in cage. Had an exit velocity of 83 mph. On the mound, right-hander works from high-3/4 slot, really sinks into backside before separation of the hands. Threw strikes with fastball and sat between 76-77 mph. Curveball had 11/5 shape at 68 mph while his changeup dived at times in the low 70's range. Being able to separate the speed of his changeup, fastball combo will help in working one off the other. Was able to work all three pitches in the strike zone, added strength should help play a role in velocity gains. 60-Yard Dash: 7.53 Exit Velocity: 83 INF Velocity: 73
