Maltar was one of the top arms in attendance, showing a blend of power stuff and pitchability that should translate well at the next level. Leverages a strong lower half and some violence in his actions. The fastball topped at 88.6mph, sitting in the 86-87mph range and living in the zone. Maltar’s power slider shows as a legitimate out pitch, thrown with some intent at 79-82mph and flashing bite in the zone. The arsenal is rounded out by the changeup with some heavy arm-side run (20.2in horizontal movement) that should play against college hitters. Andrew has developed well heading into his senior season, and there looks to be more to come from the Royals product.

�25 C/RHP Andrew Maltar was one of the more intriguing underclass arms in Cocoa today. Strong, sturdy frame on the mound at 5-foot-11, 200-pounds and it�s a long, clean arm action. Worked predominantly with the fastball that sat 78-80 T82 from a minimal effort delivery and also flashed a changeup and curveball. Young arm out of the Canes Canada program to keep tabs on.
