The versatile two way guy stands 5-foot-9, 145-pounds with a slender frame that will easily take on some more weight with time. He ran a 6.91 60-yard dash. Offensively- At the plate he sets up tall and relaxed uses, a small consistent stride and steps away from his hands. Bat path has slight incline and uses a one hand release finish. Exit velocity was 80 MPH. Defensively- Shows good clean actions and footwork up the middle, arm strength more then suitable at 81 MPH across the diamond. Pitching-On the mound he has a quick hand which in time should continue to see velocity gains as he gets bigger and stronger. Breaking ball was tight and well located. FB sat 75-79 MPH with CB at 61-63 MPH.
Preseason All-State (February 28, 2016)
Through now three events, we have seen steady improvements from the lean (5-foot-9, 145-pound) Underhill, who shows next-level projectable ability. Offensively - he uses a slightly open stance, hands high with a slight barrel lean back. On the pitch he uses a smooth load, stride, hands stay inside the ball, mostly level barrel plane with extension out in front after contact. Bat-speed is improving from 72 to now 80 mph. Defensively - smooth defender, fields out in front bending properly from his back not his knees, the transition is clean, shorter arm-action from an accurate strong (81 mph) high-3/4 slot. Pitching - shows a quick loose arm from an undersized body, with more size and strength, Underhill projects well from the mound. Smooth pace to his delivery, high knee-lift, shorter arm-action with good hip/shoulder separation towards home. Throws from a high-3/4 slot with some downward tilt to his 79-81 mph fastball. Changeup sits 74-75 with some late depth, likely should take a few ticks off the mph for more effectiveness. Curveball has the proper spin, good 11/6 shape, at times more gradual than sharp. 68-70 mph with good feel, chance to be a next-level pitch.

He uses a simple side step, balanced delivery, arm action is fairly clean and loose, throws with an over the top arm slot. His fast ball was (77-78 MPH). Curveball had a 12 to 6 downward action and changeup had a little late downward action. In the game, he got hitters to hit groundballs.Offensively- At the plate his setup is relaxed and balanced stance, short double tap stride, with a back load. His hands are very compact and strong, swinging with a little uphill tilt but straight to the ball, and has shoulder high finish with good extension through the ball. His exit velocity was 74 MPH.
