10.22.17 - Gioia displayed an impressive 2.00 pop time with a very quick release and actions behind the plate. Has arm strength and more should come with added strength. Sat 76-78 on the mound. Displayed a pretty compact swing that was quick through the zone when on. Had a tendency to rush hands at times which disrupted timing. Swing will continue to develop. Decent athleticism with some quick twitch abilities. Intriguing follow moving forward, Gioia plays with a business like approach and the quickness he brings behind the dish is something that most kids his age do not have yet. The arm, feet, and feel for the game make Gioia someone to watch over the next few years.
